It will be a case of history in the making for the Caribbean music industry come September 7.
That’s when Gospel artistes of Naba Band, release 25 original praise and worship songs following their live recording event which took place earlier this year. This groundbreaking release of songs the first of its kind in the Caribbean, promises to deliver a powerful and spiritual experience that has never been seen before in the region.
The band, a representation of the rich, diverse, and spiritually vibrant Caribbean, is comprised of musicians and songwriters from across the region, and its members have been on a unique journey to capture the sounds of the Caribbean in their Sounds of The Glory album; with each song entirely inspired by the Holy Spirit. The band’s mission is not just to create music but to be conduits of a divine movement that transcends geographical boundaries and touches the hearts of people worldwide.
Naba Band’s story began years ago, and is said to be rooted in a divine revelation that the Caribbean, despite its small population, holds an outsized influence in the global music scene. From soca to calypso and dancehall, the islands have consistently produced sounds that have resonated far beyond their shores. However, Naba Band’s founders recognised that while these genres dominated secular music, there was a spiritual sound waiting to be unlocked—a sound that could only come from a genuine move of God.
Dr. Andre Thomas, prophet, church leader, ambassador and the visionary behind Naba Band, recalled the moment when this realisation hit home.
He told Buzz, “We understood that this sound could not be artificially created. It had to be birthed from a spiritual movement unique to the Caribbean. Every geographical area has its divine repository, and for us, it was about tapping into that God-given sound that was meant to transform lives.”
“What makes this launch so significant is not just the number of songs—25 in total—but the fact that each song carries a prophetic message meant to inspire, uplift, and transform. These songs are not just music; they are vehicles of transformation. They were born out of deep spiritual experiences and are meant to be a tool for worshippers to connect with God on a profound level.”
The songs, such as “Winds of the Spirit” and “I Will Not Faint,” are already being hailed as anthems for this generation—expressions of faith, resilience, and divine intervention, according to Thomas.
Naba Band’s launch is also said to be a momentous occasion for the entire Caribbean, as it underscores the region's ability to produce not just world-renowned secular music but also spiritually impactful worship songs that can change lives and nations. The band’s vision extends beyond the islands, with their music set to be available on all major streaming platforms, ensuring that the Caribbean’s spiritual sound is heard worldwide. As the date approaches, excitement builds not just in Barbados but across the entire Caribbean.
The release of the songs is also a testament to the power of divine inspiration and the potential of Caribbean worship music to influence the global Christian community. For those attending or tuning in, September 7, promises to be a day of spiritual renewal and musical excellence—a day when the Caribbean will once again show the world its unique gift of sound.
Naba Band is a subsidiary of the Fresh Anointing & Wisdom Network, which is the home of the 12 Spheres of Leadership Movement.
In sharing the heart behind Sounds of the Glorious Church, the band’s Lead Prophetic Psalmist Dionne Renee revealed that that during the global pandemic in 2020, while the world was grappling with uncertainty and fear, she found herself inspired by the profound revelations shared by Thomas, during a Rapture Ready series that he taught.
Beholding the Throne, one of the central songs of the album, was birthed from these teachings. Renee recalled being struck by John - Jesus’ disciple, when he described in his vision, worship in Heaven. This inspired her to capture the awesomeness, majesty, and royalty of God in song.
“My hope for this song is that as people sing it, they are taken into a deeper revelation of worship,” Renee shared. “I want them to join with the angels and the beings in Heaven, recognising the holiness and majesty of God.”
She emphasised that the songs “are not ordinary compositions, but are deeply prophetic, often written in response to the revelations received by Thomas during his teachings. This connection between spiritual leadership and musical expression is at the heart of how Naba Band operates.”
“We don’t just sit down and try to come up with lyrics,” Renee explained. “We catch a revelation from the teachings, and because of that, the songs come quickly. It’s a prophetic process where the music is an extension of the word preached.”
Another song on the album is You Are God – said to be a song of unshakable faith, and another powerful track on the album.
It is a song which came to Renee during the pandemic. She explained that despite the global chaos and uncertainty, the theme for the year within their ministry was “enlargement.” This seemed contradictory given the circumstances, but it was precisely this tension that inspired the song.
“I realised that no circumstance, however big, could change who God is,” Renee reflected. “Even in the midst of a global pandemic, God’s Word remains true, and nothing can alter that.”
Renee also spoke about the unique role of the prophetic psalmist in today’s worship culture. She described the psalmist as a conduit through which God sings over His people, with songs being downloaded from Heaven in the moment.
“Everyone may not be a prophetic psalmist, but everyone can receive spiritual songs,” Renee noted. “It’s about giving God space to speak and being in tune with His Word.”
As the launch date approaches, Renee has expressed her hopes for the future of these songs and their impact on the global community.
“My hope is that as people sing these songs, they embrace the truth that we are the glorious Church. This is the language God wants us to speak in these times. He is coming back for a glorious Church, and these songs are meant to reflect that reality.”
On September 7, when these songs are released, it won’t just be another album launch. It will be the culmination of years of spiritual preparation and prophetic insight, a moment when the sound of the Caribbean’s worship will resonate across the nations.
